THE STEFAN/ELENA/DAMON OF IT ALL | Elena’s transition into a vampire – and the remembrance of all the memories Damon erased – will have big consequences for her relationships with both Salvatores. “All these things that she’s experienced with Damon and with Stefan will have different context for her as she’s becoming this new person,” previews Plec. “This circumstance, which is pretty horrific, is going to make them all care about each other even more deeply and argue even more intensely and fracture even more greatly and love as deeply as possible.”
Although Damon is back to his Season 1 ways, “it’s certainly not the end of Delena, as anyone might be afraid,” insists Plec. “In fact, in a way, it’s the beginning of the beginning.” But just because Elena now remembers Damon’s confession of love and that she met him first doesn’t mean she’ll be regretting her decision to stick with Stefan. “I wouldn’t want her to be so fickle,” says the EP. However, the regained knowledge will “imbed itself in her brain a little bit. As she continues to look at herself and her relationship and friendship with Damon, it’s all those new pieces of information that will be important along the way.”
TWO HYBRIDS AND A VAMPIRE | You may have heard that clothes will fly when Tyler and Caroline reunite. But will the hybrid actually be himself during the happy embrace, or will Klaus still be in possession of him? “You’ll just have to wait and see,” Plec replies coyly. “I definitely think that Klaus is going to unwittingly provide a little bit of mistaken identity hijinks in the first episode back.” Meanwhile, a fresh face who has “a history” with Tyler will arrive. “We’ll start to understand that this is a friend of his, who’s been very important to him in the past,” teases Plec. So should Caroline and Tyler fans be worried? “Any time a hot, new girl comes to town, somebody’s got to be worried about something. But Tyler and Caroline have a really solid bond, a really solid relationship. So it takes somebody really special to get in the way of that.”

Now that Elena will transition, how soon before memories she was compelled to forget come back on The Vampire Diaries? — Maxine
NATALIE: We all love a good flashback and fortunately for Delena fans, in the premiere episode Elena will remember a very important moment from Season 2: when Damon told her he loved her. But unlike past flashbacks we’ve seen, Elena doesn’t realize right away that she’s watching a memory from the past rather than experiencing a moment in the present.

TV Guide recently spoken to The Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder at the People’s Choice Awards 2012 and they talk about a scene he shot were possibly Damon naked in bed with Katherine. Uh Oh, Delena fans.
Ian Somerhalder told me at the People’s Choice Awards that he’d just shot a Vampire Diaries scene where Damon “wakes up naked with another woman who is a hot vampire.” Might this be Katherine? Nina Dobrev (Elena/Katherine) hints, “I can’t say whether or not I’m in that scene, but it is a character fans are familiar with and Elena will definitely have an opinion on it.”

Entertainment Weekly recently spoken to Julie Plec about the new character Samantha Gilbert and Katherine is coming back.
Hi Sandra! I’ve been reading a lot online recently about a new character coming to The Vampire Diaries, Samantha Gilbert, and that she’s supposedly a new love interest for Damon?? As a hardcore Delena shipper, please SAY IT ISN’T SO!!! — Sophie
It isn’t so. “She’s not for Damon,” EP Julie Plec assures. “We’ll meet her in the past, not the present. She’s somebody that we meet in not present-day Mystic Falls.” All better, Soph?
Anything about TVD‘s Stefan/Katherine? Thanks! — Rose
Though she’s currently on the down low, I’d expect to see Katherine very soon. “She’s gone underground, and so it will be a surprise when we see Katherine again. As Katherine tends to do, she’ll pop up sometime and throw everyone for a loop,” says Plec.
TV Line has lots of spoilers for your favorite characters and the new character. News about Damon and Elena’s soon-to-be hookup, Klaus’s love interest, and Tyler.
DAMON & ELENA: AT LAST! | After several very close moments this season, how much longer can the will-they-or-won’t-they pair go there without actually going there? “We’re not in the business of the eternal tease that never goes anywhere,” Plec hints. “That’s not how we like to tell our stories.” In fact, she promises that “ultimately, there will be a payoff” to the long-building sexual tension between Stefan’s ex and his bro. But, she adds, the long-awaited moment, particularly “what it is and when it happens, may be surprising to people.”
CUPID TARGETS… KLAUS?! | Does the big, bad hybrid have a soft, sentimental heart? As we previously teased, someone will catch Klaus’ eye very soon. “What he does in pursuit of that someone will be an interesting and enjoyable part of the next chapter,” previews Plec. But is being at the center of the vamp’s attention a good thing? After all, that could also mean you’re dinner. Plec laughs before assuring us the story is “an opportunity to see a side of Klaus that we haven’t gotten to see yet, which is him being attracted to somebody else. … It’s going to be lots of fun.”
WAKE UP AND SMELL THE MANIPULATION | After some really “unfortunate” events, Tyler will “start to understand that the hold Klaus has over him is stronger than even he believed and that [the sire bond] comes at a very, very painful and ugly price,” says Plec. “He is going to have to do something about it if he has any hope of winning [Caroline] back.” And that’s a big “if.” Tyler’s defense of Caroline, to put it mildly, “doesn’t make Klaus very happy.”
